The professional transition project (PTP)

The Professional Transition Project (Projet de Transition Professionnelle - TP) enables you, at your own initiative and on an individual basis, to follow a training course leading to certification, with a view to changing your profession or trade.

Eligibility requirements are as follows:

  • employees on permanent contracts: 24 months' seniority, with or without breaks, including 12 months with the same company;
  • employees on fixed-term contracts: proof of 24 months' seniority, consecutive or otherwise, over the last 5 years, including 4 months on fixed-term contracts, consecutive or otherwise, over the last 12 months.

The professional transition project helps finance your training and educational costs. You can also use the funds in your personal training account (CPF) to help finance the training you receive.
Your remuneration is also maintained, and varies from 60% to 100% depending on the amount of your initial salary and the duration of the training course.

During the training period, you retain your usual social security coverage.

The rules for requesting a PTP from your employer vary according to the duration of the training.

The rules vary according to the number of employees in the company.

The employer has 30 days to respond to the employee's request. If no reply is received within this time, the authorization is deemed to have been granted.
