Aix-Marseille Université's disability mission welcomes and supports students with physical, sensory or psychological disabilities, dyslexia or long-term disabling health conditions.
It offers measures adapted to each student throughout his or her university career.
To take advantage of these measures, contact your campus's Mission Handicap as soon as possible.
To find out how your studies or exams can be accommodated, consult the "Your procedures" tab.
Your steps in brief
-
The student must report to Mission Handicap
Students with disabilities may contact Mission Handicap immediately after registration, but they must do so no later than six weeks before a continuous assessment, or no later than six weeks before exams for which one or more accommodations are required.
-
The student must make an appointment with a SIUMPPS doctor.
During the medical check-up, the doctor will study the student's situation and the information contained in his or her medical file, and will issue an opinion recommending any accommodations deemed necessary.
Medical documents to be provided:- medical file (recent information): medical certificates less than two years old ;
- health record;
- If applicable, information from the MDPH (Maison Départementale des Personnes Handicapées);
- any accommodations the student has benefited from in the past.
-
Students should contact their department's disability advisor
As well as the Director of Studies and the list of Disability Advisors.
The role of the departmental disability advisor and the director of studies is to support students throughout their studies.
-
The Personalized Plan for Higher Education (PPES)
The Personalized Plan for Higher Studies (PPES) specifies the accommodation measures that will be put in place for the university curriculum, ongoing tests, exams and competitive examinations, in line with the recommendations made by SIUMPPS doctors.
-
Renewal of facilities
Accommodations recognized at the time of first registration are valid for the duration of the degree, and will be renewed from the bachelor's to the master's cycle, unless the medical situation changes, as well as in the case of a reorientation of the student's studies.
-
Student waives one or more accommodations
It may happen that a student no longer feels the need for a particular accommodation (note-taking assistance or exam secretarial support, for example). In this case, he or she must formally express his or her renunciation to Mission Handicap, by signing a new PPES. The waiver can be made from one academic year to the next, but not during the course of the year.
-
Temporary disability
Students enrolled at Aix-Marseille University who become disabled during the course of the academic year must inform the Student Life Office - Campus Disability Mission within 10 working days of the event that caused the disability, together with a medical certificate. Wherever possible, it would be preferable to respect the deadline of six weeks before exams.
