The student mentoring program aims to help students adjust, integrate, and succeed; to strengthen relationships among students; and to foster a sense of belonging at the University. The goal is to connect first-year students—particularly those in their first or second year of a bachelor’s degree program—with other students who have already found their footing at the university.
Mentors and mentees commit to their relationship for at least one semester.
Note: Enrollment in this program is subject to the availability of a match between a first-year (L1) or second-year (L2) student and a more advanced student.

1. The godfather / godmother
A mentor is a student volunteer who has been enrolled in the ALLSH faculty for more than one year and is in a higher academic year than the mentee. He or she may, upon request, serve as a mentor to a maximum of two students per year.
The mentor commits, during the academic year, to:
- Maintain a close relationship with their mentee, offering advice, a listening ear, and support,
- Welcome the mentee and help them find their way around the campus, both in terms of academic and physical orientation,
- Where appropriate, share their academic experience (regarding courses, study methods, resources available at the University or nearby, and university life in general) to provide more in-depth academic support,
- Answering their questions in a timely manner,
- Make themselves available for individual or group meetings with their mentee,
- Escalate any issues that the mentee cannot resolve on their own to the DETU or the program director.

2. The godchild
The mentee is a student volunteer who is either a first-time student at the university or enrolled in the first year of a bachelor’s degree program.
The mentee agrees to:
- Build a relationship of trust and mutual support with their mentor
- Seek their advice on academic matters,
- Follow the terms and frequency of contact proposed by their mentor,
- Make themselves available for individual or group meetings with their mentor.

3. Procedure and Enrollment in the Program
Registration is a two-step process:
- Start your mentorship with your mentee
- Then, register for the course via the digital learning platform (ENT) between October 31 and November 14

4. Device Output
The mentor and the mentee may withdraw from the program at any time, provided they have notified their partner and informed the Student Affairs Office (samba.DIOP@univ-amu.fr).

5. Recognition and Promotion of Student Mentoring
At the end of the semester, the pair must complete an evaluation form and submit it to their program coordinator.
The DETU or program director may award a bonus of 0.25 to 0.50 points toward the overall GPA to students participating in the program as mentors.
The DETU or program director has the discretion not to award any bonus points.Two bonus levels:
- +0.25: awarded for completing a basic mentoring activity (welcoming new students, helping them find their way around the campus and its surroundings).
- +0.50: awarded to a student who provides more advanced academic support (such as help with studying or research) as part of a program supervised by the academic unit (managed directly or delegated to a student organization but overseen by the department).
