Choose a language
-
How do I choose my language?
There are lots of possibilities! You can continue with a language you studied in secondary school, or start a new language as an introduction, in line with your training. To help you choose your level, go to the help page.
-
At Initiation level, can I choose a language I studied at secondary school?
No, the "Initiation" level is strictly reserved for absolute beginners.
-
Can I choose a LANSAD language that is my mother tongue?
No, this is not possible. You must choose another LANSAD language (LANSAD courses are not intended for native speakers).
-
I'm enrolled in a Licence LLCER, can I choose my LANSAD course in the same language?
No, this is not possible. You must choose a LANSAD language other than your specialty language.
Change language
-
What if the language I've registered for isn't right for me?
You may change language within two weeks of the start of the school year, but only if places are available in the language you wish to learn and in a group corresponding to your timetable. Once this period has elapsed, you will no longer be able to change and you will keep this language course for the whole year.
-
What if the level I've enrolled in is too difficult for me?
Talk to your teacher and the LANSAD manager as soon as possible. You may be able to change levels within a fortnight of the start of the school year, if places are available in a group corresponding to your timetable. Once this deadline has passed, you will no longer be able to change and will remain in the same language class for the rest of the year.
-
If I can't find a place in the group that suits me, can I sign up for another group that I won't be going to in order to get a place?
No, because you're required to attend the sessions of the group you've signed up for.
-
Will I be able to change languages between the first and second semesters?
No, because continuity is essential. In the even-numbered semester, only the language studied in the odd-numbered semester will be offered.
Progress in language levels
-
I am enrolling in the 1ʳᵉ year of my bachelor's degree, which LANSAD language can I choose?
If you are in L1, you can :
- Choose a language you have already studied in secondary school.
- Choose to start with a new language.
-
I am enrolling in the 2ᵉ year of my degree, which LANSAD language can I choose?
If you are in L2, you can :
- Continue the language you studied in Secondary and continued in L1.
- Continue the language you started in "Initiation" in L1.
-
I'm applying for a 3ᵉ year degree, which LANSAD language can I choose?
If you are in L3, you can :
- Continue the language you studied in Secondary and continued in L2 (Please note: check that the language you have chosen offers the level that corresponds to your progress).
- Continue the language begun in "Initiation" in L1 and continued in L2.
- Start a new language at the "Initiation" level (if the "Reinforcement" level has been validated in L2).
-
I'm applying for a Master's degree. Which Lansad language should I choose?
If you are a Master's student, you can :
- Continue in the same language as in L3
- Start a new language at the "Initiation" level (if the "Reinforcement" level has been validated in L2).
-
Can I skip certain levels in the LANSAD progression?
No, that's impossible: you have to respect the continuity of the levels.
-
Last year, I failed my LANSAD UE, but I passed my year. Can I re-enroll in the same level of the same LANSAD language?
No, this is impossible, because your LANSAD UE has been validated by compensation and acquired. You must therefore register for the higher level of the same language.
-
If I've passed my LANSAD UEs but failed my year, do I have to retake the Lansad UEs?
If you have obtained a mark equal to or higher than 10/20 in 1ʳᵉ chance, you have validated your UE by capitalization: it is definitively yours, even if you are deferred or fail your year results. You do not need to retake it in 2ᵉ chance.
Attendance and examinations
-
I'm an employee and I can't attend classes after 4:30 p.m. What can I do?
You need to apply for an RSE: "Régime Spécial d'Études" (Special Study Plan), to benefit from an exemption from attendance requirements and a derogation for exams.
Please note : if you are enrolled under the normal regime, you must attend class regularly. -
I can't come to all the classes, does it matter?
Under normal enrolment conditions, attendance is compulsory. In LANSAD courses, attendance is a prerequisite for regular progress, as well as for taking part in and passing continuous assessment tests.
-
I don't understand how I'm going to be evaluated
Modalités de contrôle des connaissances et des compétences (M3C) are specific to each language. There are three types:
- Contrôle Continu Intégral (CCI) = tests take place only during class time. No tests are taken during the exam session (except for students on special dispensation).
- ContrĂ´le Continu Partiel (CCP) = tests during the teaching semester (continuous control) and during the examination session (final control).
- ContrĂ´le terminal (CT) = no tests during the semester, only during the examination session.
Your teacher will tell you which assessment methods apply to your course.
