At a time when the Earth is becoming depleted of fertile soils, biodiversity and life-giving thoughts, it's becoming urgent to rethink the challenges of food.
Feeding the world? This expression, long used to justify the massive use of chemical inputs, needs to be turned on its head. Feeding the world should never mean poisoning, depleting or standardizing it. On the contrary, it should preserve what connects and conditions the existence of a plurality of "worlds". Eating is a necessary, vital act, based on reciprocal inter-species relations. This act is based on a mutualistic symbiosis, a complex sum of interdependencies in which each party - human, non-human living beings, the earth - benefits from cooperating and flourishing together.
Nourishing is not just about producing food: it's about bringing life and nourishing bodies, as well as instilling ideas, stories and visions. It involves much more than caloric abundance: it's about nourishing with meaning, care, life, situated knowledge, the right gestures and fertile ideas.
