IECJ lecture series Second semester 2025/26 - First meeting - Speech by Édouard ROBBERECHTS

🗓️ Tuesday, January 20, 2026, 2pm to 5pm

Revival, Revelation, Reviviscence: resurrection as a lived experience in Jewish tradition - before eschatology.

Too much focus on the resurrection of the dead as an eschatological phenomenon tends to obscure the fact that the Jewish tradition's demand for resurrection is rooted in very everyday experiences. Here are a few examples to show how these experiences deepen, and sometimes even renew, the meaning of the resurrection of the dead.

Texts studied: TB Berakhot 58b, morning blessings, TB Chabat 88b, 2ᵉ blessing of the Amida.
