The First Edition of the ISIPH Research Laboratories (Exchanging Skills), organized by the Cátedra Eduardo Lourenço (Aix-Marseille Université, MMSH, Camões-IP), in partnership with the Fundação Oriente-Délégation de Goa (India), the Universities of Lisbon and Goa, and the MoCA Museum, ended on November 26, marking the successful conclusion of an intensive five-day program that exceeded expectations, with registrations far exceeding the number of places initially offered, and transformative learning experiences.
Indeed, the program brought together over 30 participants from diverse academic and professional backgrounds, consolidating international scientific collaboration between Portugal, France and India in the field of Indo-Portuguese Studies.
The inaugural sessions took place from November 20 to 26. The full program included intensive training sessions delivered by a team of experienced teacher-researchers: World Historiography (João Paulo Oliveira e Costa), Epigraphy and Palaeography (Ernestine Carreira, Fátima Gracias), Portuguese Heraldry (Luis Cabral de Oliveira, Parag Parobo), French Palaeography (Ernestine Carreira, Anuradha Wagle), Heritage Interpretation Methodology (Mónica Esteves Reis), and a Field Application led by MoCA Director Natasha Fernandes.
The event was notable for the response it received from students, doctoral students, lecturers and professionals, as well as for Dean Anuradha Wagle's proposal for a future inter-university agreement.
This pioneering initiative follows on from a strategic project launched in 1978 and still scientifically active: major international meetings between Indian, Portuguese and French researchers.
The organizers are already planning the second edition for June 2026.
