  • Département Arts
  • Formation initiale
  • Aix-en-Provence Schuman
  • AIMS

Critical thinking, responsibility and the notion of a project are at the heart of this degree course, the main objective of which is to master the theoretical and practical knowledge of the performing arts in order to be able to articulate them in the construction of a professional project. The aim of the Theories and Practices of Film and Audiovisual Studies pathway is to give students a command of the critical analysis of audiovisual discourse and to acquire skills in audiovisual production (film, video, etc.). The aim is to provide training in the critical analysis of audiovisual discourse and audiovisual production (film, video, etc.). Because criticism of existing forms is at the heart of all conscious practice, and because criticism and creation are not mutually exclusive, quite the contrary, our teaching seeks to maintain a balance between theory, analysis, practice and creation. Equally, we believe it is essential to explore, as far as we are able, the whole field of audiovisual production and realisation. Critical thinking, responsibility and the notion of a project are at the heart of our approach to learning. Film analysis in its aesthetic, thematic, historical and sociological aspects is one of the fundamental dimensions of our teaching. The aim is to question and explore the entire audiovisual field (cinema, video, multimedia). Practice will not be divorced from critical thinking, but will be woven together with it, with learning alternating between group workshops, technical development, individual reacute;alisations and courses.
