Licence Langues étrangères appliquées (LEA) - Parcours Anglais-Chinois

The LEA English-Chinese degree aims to provide students with a solid knowledge of the culture and civilisation of the Anglo-Saxon world and a mastery of the main political and cultural dynamics of Asian countries. It trains students to write and communicate at a professional level in French, English and Chinese. The skills acquired include translation from English and Chinese into French and from French into English and Chinese, as well as mastery of the concepts and reasoning underlying legal, economic, communication and management analyses.

The LEA English-Chinese degree prepares students in English and Chinese so that they are able to move around in the countries of these two linguistic areas and interact in these two languages in addition to French, which can lead to a variety of careers (NGOs, diplomacy, journalism, research, etc.) where these three languages are used.) where all three languages are used. • Advanced language skills in English (C1+) and strong skills in Chinese.
• Translation of a variety of texts from English and Chinese into French and from French into English and Chinese (press, audiovisual media, political and economic analyses, legal documents).
• Fine knowledge of the political and cultural dynamics at work in the Anglo-Saxon and Asian worlds.
• Ability to apply legal, economic, communication or management concepts and reasoning to analyse a situation or manage a project.

The LEA programme offers a compulsory work placement in a company or other organisation for all Licence 3 students in semester 6, validating a 2 ECTS UE. The Professional Project and Guidance course in semester 5 helps students to develop their professional project and find work placements. The work placement lasts for eight weeks (280 hours), following on from the weeks of teaching, reviews, exams and occasional make-up exams (the university calendar is flexible, with an early exam period to enable students to complete their compulsory work placement).

The placement project must necessarily be validated by the teacher in charge and a placement agreement must be drawn up via AMUStage, Aix-Marseille Université's online agreement management tool (also accessible via the ENT). If the work placement takes place abroad, students must follow the standard AMUStage procedure and apply immediately to the university's International Relations Department via the MoveOn mobility portal. Students can also apply for mobility assistance. People registered under the continuing education scheme do not need to draw up their placement agreement on AMUStage but apply by email allsh-fc@univ-amu.fr or by going directly to the EGGER office in C209.

The supervised projects offered as part of various LEA degree courses enable students to work in conditions similar to those in a company, with support from the course teachers.
