    The double honours degree aims at acquiring a specialised training in the field of Art History, Classical Antiquity and Contemporary History, and in Law (see the corresponding page for this part).

    The double honours degree in Art History and Law is unique in the South of France.

    A unique training in the South of France, the History of Art-Law double degree allows a full graduation in the two mentions of Licence at the same time and in only three years, the specific arrangement of the timetables of the two training courses being designed in order to avoid overlapping and duplication of time.

  • ADMISSION CONDITIONS

    The following are authorised to enrol in a Licence:

    - Candidates who hold or are preparing for a French baccalaureate in general education.

    - Candidates who hold or are preparing for a French baccalaureate in the general sciences

    - Candidates who are nationals of the E.U., the EEA, the Swiss Confederation, the Principality of Monaco or Andorra, who hold or are in the process of obtaining a diploma giving access to European higher education.

    - Candidates who are nationals of the E.U., the EEA, the Swiss Confederation, the Principality of Monaco or Andorra, who hold or are in the process of obtaining a diploma equivalent to the French baccalaureate (diploma obtained outside the E.U.). N.B.: Candidates who are not nationals of the E.U., the EEA, the Swiss Confederation, the Principality of Monaco or Andorra, who hold or are in the process of obtaining a diploma equivalent to the French baccalaureate (E.U. or non-E.U.) do not sit the exam.E or non-EU) do not go through APB, but through the DAP procedure.

    At the end of the year, the students will be able to apply for a degree.

    After a pre-selection of the application files received on ParcourSup, the eligible candidates are auditioned online (AMUZOOM platform) with a view to their possible admission.

    As a high-level, selective and intensive training, candidates for the double degree are those who demonstrate a high level of availability, a strong capacity for innovation and a good understanding of the environment;A high level of availability, work capacity, organisation, and the ability to appropriate the distinct working methodologies of Art History and Law.

  • STRUCTURE AND ORGANISATION

    As far as Art History is concerned (see the corresponding page for the Law courses), the FIRST YEAR of the Licence is conceived as an initiation to the main chrono-cultural areas of Western and Mediterranean Art. Associated with the Licence de Droit, the Licence 1 d'Histoire de l'Art is also associated with the Licence 1 d'Histoire within the framework of the Portail « Archéologie-Histoire-Histoire de l'art » (Portail 6):

    In the first semester, students follow two fundamental courses in Art History (Initiation to Art History; The Arts of the Modern Era);The Arts of the Modern Era / Methodology of Academic Work in Art History - MTU) and two contextual courses in History (Ancient History / Modern History). The teaching of modern languages is provided by the History of Art department and consists of specialised English courses.

    In the second semester, the student is required to take a course in English.

    The first year of the programme is devoted to the History of Art.

    It is in SECOND YEAR that the double Licence introduces, under the heading of History of Art, a greater specialisation of disciplinary teaching:

    The course is given by a team of experts from the CIVIS universities.

    THIRD YEAR (updated in 2021-2022).

    Without being compulsory, the completion of work placements outside of course and examination periods is possible and strongly encouraged.

    The first year of the CIVIS programme is the first year of the CIVIS programme.

  • KNOWLEDGE TO BE ACQUIRED

    Part 1

    • In the first year, the single joint Portal with the Department of History « Archéology-History-History of Art » will train à the study of the chronological, social and cultural contexts of the production of œThe course is designed to provide students with an opportunity to study the chronological, social and cultural contexts of the production of works of art and archaeological objects, and to develop their understanding of the objects and methods of the discipline, in particular the document commentary and the essay.
    • The second and third years lead to a first specialisation in Art History, centred on the objects and principles of analysis of the discipline, its knowledge (historiography), openness to multidisciplinarity and the voluntary acquisition of practical training (internships). The aim is for students to have acquired, by the end of their third year, both an artistic culture that will enable them to enter professional life and, in addition to a cultural base in the discipline, the first notions of specialisation if they wish to continue on to the second cycle (Master's degree).
  • PROFESSIONAL SKILLS TO BE ACQUIRED

    The mention aims at a specialised training in the field of Art History. Competences:

    • Critical approach to the discipline.
    • Technique of commentary, analysis of œuvres.
    • Technique de la dissertation : construction dématisé  analysis critique et synthèse à partir de documents.
    • Maîtrise of speech and commentary on a work of art.
    • Acquisition of a base of knowledge in the discipline : knowing how to place a work of art or an archaeological object in a socio-cultural, geographical and chronological context, within the discipline and in a multidisciplinary approach. A reinforcement of the competences in history (contexts) is expected, in L1, thanks to the unique Portal« Archéology-History-History of art ».
    • Multidisciplinary training: the evolution of methods of analysis of works requires, in addition to the discipline's own knowledge, an understanding of the indispensable contributions of multidisciplinarity (definition, implementation, explicitation).
    • Practical skills : Beyond the disciplinary skills in art history, and a mastery of the methods and tools common to the SHS, the training could be usefully completed by the acquisition of practical skills on the occasion of one or more voluntary internships in the field;one or more voluntary internships in a professional environment (auctioneers, research centres to which the History of Art Department is attached - CCJ, LA3M, TELEMME -, partner organisations, cultural and heritage institutions - DRAC PACA / Ministry of Culture / museums).
  • INTERNSHIPS AND SUPERVISED PROJECTS

    - Internships complement the academic training;

    - They are not compulsory in the History of Art and Law double degree.

    - They are not compulsory within the framework of the History of Art-Law double degree, but can be arranged at the student's request and are strongly recommended.

    - The internships are not compulsory within the framework of the History of Art-Law double degree, but can be arranged at the student's request and are strongly recommended.

    - The student will avoid internships that are too short (less than two weeks) or fragmented, which are not conducive to the acquisition of practical skills; internships can be repeated for a period of time;They can be carried out during the academic year, provided that they do not overlap with course or examination periods, or during the summer break.

    - The establishment of the internship agreement is ensured with the support of the administration of the UFR via the ipro platform http://ipro.univ-amu.fr.

  • SUPPORT FOR YOUR ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT

    The student has a regular teacher, the Director of Studies. He/she benefits from an individualised follow-up, supported by courses on the methodology of academic work adapted to the discipline and by access to tutoring, provided by more advanced students from the History of Art Master's degree.

    The days of the study of the History of Art are dedicated to the study of the History of Art.

    The first day of the course is an opportunity to get to know the department and the services of the University, to visit the University Library and to get to know the Service Commun de Documentation (SCD). The Practice training, compulsory for L1 students, is a discovery of the ENT Digital Working Environment, the AMETICE pedagogical platform and the institutional mail (http://cipe.univ-amu.fr).

    The training is provided with the support of the administrative and pedagogical staff of the UFR ALLSH and the services of AMU. The schooling service is in charge of registration, student follow-up, examinations and diplomas. The pedagogical support office is involved in the preparation of timetables and local administration.

    Students will be able to reorient themselves towards the major of their choice (History of Art or Law) after validation of the first semester or the first year.

    In the second year, students follow a compulsory course on "Orientation, professional and digital project". This is a course taught by professionals in the form of supervised work. The objective is to accompany the student in the construction of his/her professional project. It is a question of providing general information and methodological content for searching for information in order to enable the student to enrich his or her orientation perspectives and to gradually develop his or her choices. It is also a question of providing students with preparation for integration: knowledge of the socio-professional environment specific to the training, initiation into the tools of integration and the search for internships.
