The apprenticeship contract

The apprenticeship contract is an employment contract between an employer and an employee. Apprenticeship is based on the principle of alternating courses at an apprentice training center (CFA) or training establishment, with vocational training at the employer's premises (with whom the contract is signed).

You benefit from comprehensive vocational training, provided on a sandwich basis:

  • with general, theoretical and practical instruction at the apprentice training center or theoretical training establishment
  • supervised on the job by an experienced apprentice master;
  • leading to the acquisition of a qualification recognized by a diploma;
  • your salary is tax-free, up to the annual minimum wage (SMIC), even if you join your parents' tax household;
  • with the possibility of obtaining (subject to conditions) assistance with a category B driving license.

For whom?

  • young people aged 16 to 29;
  • certain groups can enter apprenticeship after the age of 29: disabled workers (no age limit), people planning to set up or take over a business.
