AIMS
The mention aims at a specialised training in the field of Art History and Archaeology.
TARGETED STUDENTS
Holders of a general baccalaureate (but other baccalaureates are possible) wishing to train in the cultural and heritage professions.
ADMISSION CONDITIONS

FUNDAMENTAL PREREQUISITES
Doing a bachelor's degree and a taste for the humanities, art, culture and museums.
FUNDAMENTAL PREREQUISITES
Good general knowledge, familiarity with museums and cultural venues, an aptitude for reading and the ability to articulate and express ideas in written and spoken form.
STRUCTURE AND ORGANISATION
Students enrolled in the History of Art.s dans le parcours Histoire de l'art de la Licence d'Histoire de l'Art et Archéologie à Aix-Marseille-Université suivent des enseignements de tronc commun, qui réunissent les différentes disciplines mobilisées. At the same time, more specific courses are taught until the degree is awarded. The 6 semesters are organised into Blocks of Competences and Knowledge (BCC) in such a way that the student follows increasingly specialised UEs.

LEARNING AND RESEARCH
Diplôme centred on the acquisition in the first two years of fundamental knowledge and know-how, before an introduction to specialisation in the third year. Research training as such does not take place until the Master's degree.
KNOWLEDGE TO BE ACQUIRED
The History of Art requires the acquisition of a methodology applied to commenting on works in the visual arts (painting, sculpture, engraving, decorative arts, etc.) and architecture. The history of artistic techniques as well as the historical and cultural contexts of the centres of production are also mastered.
PROFESSIONAL SKILLS TO BE ACQUIRED
Developed skills:
• Critical approach to disciplines and mastery of commentary techniques, analysis of works and data, dissertation, and oral.
• Solid foundation of knowledge enabling œuvres or objects to be placed in their socio-cultural, geographical and chronological contexts.
• Multi-disciplinary training : integration of essential contributions to the analysis of works and objects.
• Practical skills : compulsory internships in L3 (with opportunities to do internships from L1) in museums, galleries, foundations, cultural institutions...
• Language and IT skills (digital tools).
INTERNSHIPS AND SUPERVISED PROJECTS
Emphasis will be placed on the role of professional internships in the course, which are compulsory in L3 – candidates are encouraged à to multiply internships at regional, national and international level.
These compulsory internships are carried out during the university holidays of the year of validation (L3), or during the summer holidays of the year preceding the year of validation.

Students are welcomed and supported, and can speak to a qualified teacher at each level of the diploma or course. In L1, a tutoring scheme aims to support students in difficult situations

SUPPORT FOR YOUR LABOR MARKET INTEGRATION
Courses dedicated to the development of a professional project, supervised internships, access to numerous professional contacts (in dedicated courses in L2, or through immersion in research structures in L3 for the archaeology course).
SUPPORT FOR YOUR STUDIES ABROAD
Bilateral agreements exist within the framework of the Erasmus programme and the SwissEuropeanMobility Program, with the Universities of Freiburg and Tübingen (Germany), Nicosia and Limassol (Cyprus), Zadar (Croatia), Barcelona (3 Universities;(Spain), Thessaloniki and Athens (Greece), Ferrara, Lecce, Sassari, Siena, Padua, Rome, Palermo, Cagliari and Viterbo (Italy), Coimbra (Portugal), and Berne and Neuchâtel (Switzerland). The programme does not offer double degrees or compulsory internships abroad, but it does encourage and promote study days as part of the preparation of their dissertation.
The programme is designed to be a learning experience for students who wish to study abroad.
