Subject-specific knowledge: an introduction to and in-depth study of the Japanese language through teaching in grammar, vocabulary, writing and composition, and oral expression and comprehension. Language learning is complemented by teaching on Japanese and Asian culture and civilisation (history, sociology, anthropology). By the end of LLCE3, students must have reached level B1–B2.

Transversal skills: researching information from multilingual sources, analysing information, prioritising information and writing skills (synthesis, argumentation, the ability to draw on academic literature to support an argument, critical perspective). Participation in collaborative, multi-format projects (written, video, events) is encouraged to develop the ability to integrate into working groups. The academic methods acquired should facilitate a smooth transition into the world of work. Ability to prepare for an expatriate assignment and to evaluate one's own experience of living abroad.
