Information aux futurs étudiants de la licence de Philosophie

À la rentrée 2024, la Licence de philosophie se restructure, avec deux changements importants :

  1. L'accès se fait dès la 1re année en Licence de philosophie, et non dans un portail pluridisciplinaire.

  2. La licence comporte un seul parcours (parcours-type « Philosophie »), diversifié par des UE à choix disciplinaires.

Au long des 3 années la Licence de Philosophie propose une spécialisation progressive :

  • en L1 les enseignements allient des UE de philosophie et des UE d’ouverture à choix vers d'autres disciplines, comme la sociologie ou l'anthropologie ainsi que les langues anciennes (latin, grec), afin de conserver une pluridisciplinarité en début de cursus et de faciliter les éventuelles réorientations ;

  • la L2 est un tronc commun permettant approfondissement et consolidation dans la discipline ;

  • la L3 amorce la spécialisation en philosophie par des UE à choix préfigurant l’orientation en Master (mentions Philosophie ou mention Epistémologie) et le projet professionnel (notamment vers les concours d’enseignement).

La nouvelle Licence est accessible en présentiel (site : Aix-en-Provence, campus Schuman) et à distance, en formation initiale ou en reprise d'études.

  • AIMS

    The teaching of philosophy has a long tradition at Aix Marseille. The philosophy department, composed of 14 statutory research professors and about fifteen lecturers, benefits from the support of two research units in History of Philosophy (IHP) and in Philosophy and Philosophy of Science (CGGG). This context offers a capacity for student supervision likely to favour student success.

    The programme is based on the principle of "the student's responsibility".

  • ADMISSION CONDITIONS

    The following are allowed to enrol in a Bachelor's degree:

    • Candidates who hold or are in the process of obtaining a French baccalaureate in the general, technological or vocational sectors.
    • The candidates who hold or are in the process of obtaining a French baccalaureate in the general, technological or vocational sectors Candidates who hold or are preparing for a French level IV diploma other than the baccalaureate.
    • Candidates who are nationals of a country other than France
    • Candidates who are nationals of the E.U., the EEA, the Swiss Confederation, the Principality of Monaco or Andorra, who hold or are in the process of obtaining a diploma giving access to European higher education.
    • Candidates who are nationals of the E.U., the EEA, the Swiss Confederation, the Principality of Monaco or Andorra, who hold or are in the process of obtaining a diploma giving access to European higher education.

    N.B : Candidates who are not nationals of the E.U., the EEA, the Swiss Confederation, the Principality of Monaco or Andorra, who hold or are in the process of obtaining a diploma equivalent to the French baccalaureate (U.E or non-EU) do not go through parcoursup, but through the DAP procedure.

  • STRUCTURE AND ORGANISATION

    L1 : The licence « philosophy » is offered in two portals thus offering students a general culture and the possibility of a choice of gateways to another mention of the portal à at the end of the first semester or the first yearèe.

    The licence “philosophie” is associated à the licence « sociologie », à the licence « sciences du langage », and à the licence « sciences de léducation » within a common portal.

    It is associated with the Licence « Sciences de l'homme, Anthropologie et Ethnologie », à licence « Lettres » (lettres modernes et lettres classiques) within another portal.

    In Licence 1ère année (L1), the teaching is common to the mentions of the portal. Within the framework of each of the two portals, each of the 4 branches involved will offer a disciplinary teaching UE (i.e. 20% of the total = 80%) in S1. In semester 2, 60% of the teaching will be compulsorily disciplinary in relation to the initial registration, 20% will be chosen in the portal (at the choice of one of the three other disciplines).

    A teaching of methodology of academic work is proposed in L1 and L2. In L3, a course in the history and theory of philosophical methodology is taught.

    The course is also taught in the history and theory of philosophical methodology.

    L2 : Common core constituted of U.E. allowing the acquisition of a common base of fundamental knowledge and methodological skills in philosophy.

    In the second year, a course of study on the professional project and the preparation of a career path helps students to refine their project; a cross-disciplinary course of study provides training in digital and informational skills.

    The course of study is divided into two parts: the first part is devoted to the development of the professional project and the second part to the development of a career path.

    L3 : The specialisation in the mention is carried out in the 3rd year.

    3 standard courses including mutualised and specific E.U.s:

    The modern language is compulsory every semester of the degree.

    The degree is offered in initial and continuing education.

    The trainees of continuous training benefit from specific transversal modules proposed by the component and which relate in particular to the link with the socio-economic world;These modules include links with the socioeconomic world, professionalization, documentary research, use of the university's resources, development of knowledge and skills, and project development.

    In both initial and continuing education, the teaching is provided in both face-to-face and face-to-face formats, enriched by the use of TICE via the AMU digital platform AMETICE.

    The training is provided entirely in FOAD Formation à distance for the first course « Histoire de la Philosophie et métaphysique ».

    The hourly volume of the degree is 1500 hours, i.e. 500 hours maximum per year

    The teaching of modern languages for non-specialists of languages (LANSAD) represents 18 ECTS over the 3 years, i.e. 180 hours. The progress in modern language of each student is prepared within the framework of a partnership between the licence and the LANSAD offer of the departments of modern languages of the UFR ALLSH.

  • KNOWLEDGE TO BE ACQUIRED

    The course will enable students to find their way through the classical works of the philosophical tradition. The teaching provided during the three years of the licence allows students to acquire methodological skills (mastery of written and oral expression, capacity for analysis and synthesis), a general culture (the ability to understand and use the language of the world), and the ability to understand and use the language of the world;nérale (opening of multidisciplinary UEs in L1 through the portals system) and a critical disciplinary culture, mastery of at least one modern language, opening up to ancient languages essential for approaching the texts of the ancient tradition.

  • PROFESSIONAL SKILLS TO BE ACQUIRED

    The competences expected of students at the end of the Licence de Philosophie are as follows:

    Disciplinary competences

    • Identify the major periods of philosophy and describe their evolution.
    • Identify in a text or in the argumentative process of a discussion the elements pertaining to the history of ideas, sciences and knowledge in order to proceed with their analysis by contextualizing them.
    • To relate the great contemporary debates to each other and to the history of ideas in order to analyse them.
    • Mobilize the methods and tools of critical analysis of philosophical texts, in French, drawing on knowledge of the languages of classical antiquity and in at least one foreign language.
    • Mobilize conceptual and theoretical tools to examine concrete issues facing contemporary societies.
    • Problematize, conceptualize, and argue a philosophical topic in fluent, clear, and rigorous language, whether in oral or written presentations.

    Professional skills

    • Situate one's role and mission within an organisation to adapt and take initiatives.
    • Identify the process of production, dissemination and valorisation of knowledge.
    • Respect the principles of ethics, deontology and accountability of work and research.
    • Work as part of a team as well as independently and responsibly in the service of a project.
    • Identify and situate the professional fields potentially related to the achievements of the mention as well as the possible paths to access them.
    • Characterise and enhance one's identity, skills and professional project in relation to a context.
    • To step back from a situation, to evaluate and question oneself in order to learn and evolve.

    Transversal and linguistic skills

    • Use digital reference tools and computer security rules to acquire, process, produce and disseminate information as well as to collaborate internally and externally.
    • Improve the ability to communicate with others in the workplace.
    • Identify and select various specialised resources to document a topic.
    • Allows you to use your knowledge and skills in a variety of situations.

    The training offers a common base of knowledge in the major fields of philosophy, which will be articulated on the one hand around the history of philosophy, and on the other hand around métaphysics, psychology, logic, history of science, social, political, ethical and legal philosophy and aesthetics.

  • INTERNSHIPS AND SUPERVISED PROJECTS

    For non-compulsory internships, the establishment of the internship agreement is ensured with the support of the UFR administration via the ipro platform http://ipro.univ-amu.fr

    This platform allows students to access and apply for internship and job offers, to follow up on their applications, to request authorization for an internship from their academic supervisor and to complete their internship agreement.

    The tutorial projects

    The tutored projects allow students to work in conditions close to those of a company, with support from the teachers of the course.

    The Bachelor of Philosophy allows students to acquire essential skills not only in the perspective of teaching (in primary as well as in secondary schools) but more widely in all fields where argumentation, the spirit of analysis and finesse are essential. For this reason, the Bachelor of Philosophy constitutes a coherent and relevant step for students who have a professional project in the field of communication, journalism, political marketing, for the preparation to the administrative competitions of category A, cultural management. The licence in philosophy allows access to a master's degree in philosophy and constitutes a first step, indispensable, for the preparation of the teaching competitions (CAPES and agrégation). It also provides access to the competitive entrance exams (direct admission to the 2nd year) of the major management schools.

    The course is designed to help students prepare for the competitive entrance exams of the major management schools.

  • SUPPORT FOR YOUR ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT

    The student has a regular teacher, the Director of Studies. They benefit from regular and individualised follow-up, supported by courses on the methodology of university work adapted to their discipline.

    The homecoming days allow the student to get to know the department, the services of the University, the optional courses, to visit the University Library, to get to know the Common Documentation Service (SCD).

    The Practice training, compulsory for L1, is a discovery of the Digital Working Environment ENT, of the AMETICE pedagogical platform, of the institutional mail (http://cipe.univ-amu.fr)

    For students entering the course after authorisation from the P&E Commission, a refresher course may be offered (in certain cases, substitution of a French language UE for a Foreign Modern Language for example).

    Student tutoring: 2 tutors for 35 h each semester, i.e. 140 h of tutoring over the year.

    The training is provided with the support of the administrative and pedagogical staff of the UFR ALLSH and the services of AMU. The schooling service is in charge of registration, student follow-up, examinations and diplomas, with a specific supervision for continuing education and international mobility. The pedagogical support office is involved in the preparation of timetables and local administration (1 pedagogical support staff, 80%).

    The objective is to accompany the student in the construction of his/her orientation. It is a question of providing general information and methodological content for searching for information in order to enable the student to enrich his or her orientation perspectives and to gradually develop his or her choices. It is also a question of providing students with preparation for integration: knowledge of the socio-professional environment specific to the course, initiation into the tools of integration and the search for internships.
