Training presentation
The Master of Philosophy is offered as a distance-learning course, by registering with the Distance Learning Service. The structure of the distance learning Master's degree is exactly the same as that offered in the classroom; course content and teaching staff may differ from one course to another. Teaching takes the form of courses posted on the AMETICE online teaching platform, a question-and-answer forum and videoconferencing sessions.
The major comprises a single "Philosophy" pathway, comprising, in each of the two years :
- a core curriculum covering the different periods in the history of philosophy and the different fields of philosophy (ethics, political philosophy, epistemology, aesthetics, analytic philosophy, etc.)
- elective courses enabling students to specialize (in moral and political philosophy, the philosophy of culture, or the philosophy of the environment, or in ancient languages for the history of philosophy from Antiquity to the Classical Age)
- subject-specific modern language courses (English)
- research training courses, and a research dissertation supervised by a teacher-researcher.
Please note : exams are held on site for most UEs. Students must therefore plan to go to the ALLSH Faculty in Aix-en-Provence in January and May to validate most of their UEs. There are no make-up exams in the Master's program.
